How about getting someone who is on the lower end of the 20-34 age range to actually submit the listing?

What are the demographics of the folks that are already coming to your dance? As I remember from when I called for the Rochester dance this summer, you already have at least some of 20-34 year old folks -- by the end of the evening we probably had at least 20 or so in that age range. At least that particular evening, the band and caller were all in that age range too. Would it help to point that out to them, and
let them know that you're hoping to increase that by advertising in
   their publication?

I was a bit frustrated by a reply I received from a MetroMix editor,

     Rochester NY's Weekly Thursday Contra.
"I received your note and wanted to tell you that we excluded your
     listing
feeling that it's not appropriate for our target demo of 20-34."
Has anyone experienced this sort of rebuff? What is the appropriate
     way to
     deal with it?
The advertising is free, so the only way I can think is to get the
     person
     to a dance.
