Hi Brian Country Dance New York has general liability, is incorporated, and recently added directors and officers insurance (although the chance of a suit is small, it was pointed out one too many times that the problem is not whether you are right or wrong but that the cost of defending the suit may bankrupt you).
I had never heard of workers compensation insurance being something one can buy. It is provided by the state, generally, supported by payments from employers (and employees) based on salaries. Something I read suggested that some organizations can "opt in" to the workers compensation system in some states. The purpose of this is to give the volunteer a way to get compensated if injured "on the job" and to make it less likely the organization will be sued. I'm not sure if Vermont has that option - you can get some information at: http://www.bishca.state.vt.us/insurance/insurance-consumer/vermont-business-owners-guide-workers-compensation-insurance but there it only says that volunteers are not required to be covered. It might be worth checking with either the Vermont department that put up that web page, or an attorney, about whether you can opt in and whether it is a good idea.
