Hi,

as a great step towards the upcoming 0.14 release, I have released the
first alpha version.

Changelog:

http://git.musicpd.org/cgit/cirrus/mpd.git/tree/NEWS?id=91c1a279e4015f99c6013ac6da8b7b134c3c8e83

There are still a few known bugs, which I will try to fix before the
beta starts. On the other hand, dozens of dozens of bugs have been
fixed since 0.13.x.

Alpha release means: no big new features which may introduce new bugs,
but the code base is still a little bit in motion. The beta will
start in about 1 or 2 weeks (depends on your feedback), and will
freeze the MPD code base, open only for bug fixes.

This is an invitation for everybody to test MPD 0.14. Particularly,
we need testers with more exotic setups (unusual output devices like
fifo, mvp, or multiple outputs). Please report bugs as usual in the
mantis bug tracker:

 http://www.musicpd.org/mantis/

Also very important is to keep MPD portable to other operating
systems: *BSD, MacOS X, Solaris, ... - this is hard for me since I
develop on Linux, and it's too easy to get locked in the GNU one way
street. I would really appreciate if someone would give me shell
access to some other operating systems for testing (contact me via
email).

Max
