Islam gives us the knowledge of reality. Its theory of universe solves all
the questions put forward by polytheism and materialism. It tells us with
certainty how the universe came into existence; how order and harmony prevails
over it; and how it runs
.
Further, the Islamic theory of the universe is in accord with the nature,
feelings and aspirations of man. And no other concepts can satisfy his
feelings.
The answer which Islam gives to it is that man is being tested here to see
whether he maintains his correct position or deviates from it, whether he
submits to his creator and master or rebels against Him. For this purpose it
was necessary that man should neither be static like stone nor a mobile
machine, but he should be given freedom of action and ability to choose and
adopt from both desirable and undesirable ways of life. It is freedom only by
which men can be tested. Contrary to man, all other things of this universe are
subject to their creators command from which they can deviate not even in the
slightest degree. So they are not on test
.
