The above is my corrected link for an apology I published over the tasteless cartoons published in Denmark. I want to write to share my growing disgust over the actions of so many who have deliberately worked to insult and demean the Prophet Mohammed (may peace be upon Him). I am an Anglican priest and have had the honour of living and working throughout the Middle East. During my time there I was so honoured to be able to share and learn from my Muslim friends about Islam and how, in many ways, my own faith followed in similar paths. Today I still have many Muslim friends and there are times when we sit together in sadness over the recent events and attempts by western society to denigrate and belittle Muslims throughout the world. These past two weeks have particularly saddened me with the events in Denmark, the subsequent publishing of the same insulting images in a french magazine, which served no purpose other than to further insult Muslims, and the deeply distressing images of British troops beating Iraqis. And today, to see further evidence of the torture of Iraqi prisoners has caused tears to run from my face. Earlier this week, on one of my wesbites, I published an apology for the actions of others. I realise that my apology can mean little. However, I hope, and pray, that others will begin to realise that for our world to live in peace and harmony, many will have to realise how badly they have offended. In my websites, there are numerous occasions where I have made reference to Islam, but those references have been to identify that we all worship Allah and that for many of us, our spiritual journeys have not yet begun. I hope that those of you in this group will permit be to be a visitor and perhaps sometimes a contributor. It is in the interest of peace I come.
