[1:1] In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[42:21] They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized
by GOD. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been
judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful
retribution

  Peace be upon you.

The Quran is the best hadith which came out directly from the Prophet.

[39:23] GOD has revealed herein the best Hadith; a book that is consistent,
and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence
their Lord cringe therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften up for
GOD's message. Such is GOD's guidance; He bestows it upon whoever wills (to be
guided). As for those sent astray by GOD, nothing can guide them.

What is the ruling of God Almighty and His messenger on fasting if someone
becomes ill?

[2:185] Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing
guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you
who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may
substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not
hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding
you, and to express your appreciation.

The monthly cycle is a natural occurrence which God has set for women. So,
can they consider it illness? The sweating is a natural occurrence which God
has set if we run or jog? Can we consider it illness? Absolutely not!

What is the ruling of God Almighty and His messenger on monthly cycle for
women?

[2:222] They ask you about menstruation: say, "It is harmful; you shall avoid
sexual intercourse with the women during menstruation; do not approach them
until they are rid of it. Once they are rid of it, you may have intercourse
with them in the manner designed by GOD. GOD loves the repenters, and He loves
those who are clean."

God and His messenger never prohibit fasting for menstruating women. I do
not see any reason for delaying periods for fasting. If an woman sincerely
feels that she is ill because of her period, she can substitute same number of
other days according to the Quranic rule. God Almighty is her ultimate judge.

Thank you and may God guide all of us,

Delaying Periods in the Month of Ramadan

  Question
Is it permissible for a woman to take some medicine in order to postpone her
periods so as to be able to fast the whole month of Ramadan?

  Answer
It is permissible for a woman to try to delay her monthly period, taking some
tablets for the purpose. However, she does not need to do so. Moreover, there
is no virtue in doing it. The monthly cycle is a natural occurrence which God
has set. It is he who has exempted women from fasting when they have the
period. Hence, they earn their full reward when they fast after Ramadan in
compensation for the days of their periods.

If a woman decides to take such medication, she must first of all establish
that the medication is safe for her to take. This is a serious point that must
be carefully addressed.
