[1:1] In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
[42:21] They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized
by GOD. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been
judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful
retribution
Peace be upon you.
The Quran teaches us that all religious practices in Islam came to us
directly from Abraham. It enjoins Muhammad and us to follow the religion of
Abraham.
[2:127] As Abraham raised the foundations of the shrine, together with Ismail
(they prayed): "Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the Hearer, the
Omniscient.
[2:128] "Our Lord, make us submitters to You, and from our descendants let
there be a community of submitters to You. Teach us the rites of our religion,
and redeem us. You are the Redeemer, Most Merciful.
[21:73] We made them imams who guided in accordance with our commandments,
and we taught them how to work righteousness, and how to observe the Contact
Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat). To us, they were devoted
worshipers.
[22:26]. We appointed Abraham to establish the Shrine: "You shall not
idolize any other god beside Me, and purify My shrine for those who visit it,
those who live near it, and those who bow and prostrate. [22:27]. "And
proclaim that the people shall observe Hajj pilgrimage. They will come to you
walking or riding on various exhausted (means of transportation). They will
come from the farthest locations."
[2:135] They said, "You have to be Jewish or Christian, to be guided." Say,
"We follow the religion of Abraham - monotheism - he never was an idol
worshiper."
The Quran is the best hadith that came out directly from the Prophet.
39:23] GOD has revealed herein the best Hadith; a book that is consistent,
and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence
their Lord cringe therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften up for
GOD's message. Such is GOD's guidance; He bestows it upon whoever wills (to be
guided). As for those sent astray by GOD, nothing can guide them.
The messenger of God preaches the sunnah of God as laid out in the Quran.
[33:62] This is GOD's eternal system, and you will find that GOD's sunnah is
unchangeable.
[48:23] Such is GOD's sunnah throughout history, and you will find that GOD's
sunnah is unchangeable.
Both "Eid ul Fitr" and "Eid ul Adha" were derived from the local culture.
God and His messenger never decree such practice as a religious rite of Islam.
It came from a hadith attributed to the Prophet: ""Anas (radhi allahu anhu)
said: "The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) came to Madeenah and the
people of Madeenah had in Jahiliyah two days of play and amusement (they are
the day of Niarooz (New Years Day) and the day of Maharajaan (Final Day of the
Year). So, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "I came to you and
you had in Jahiliyah two days of play and amusement. Indeed, Allah has replaced
them for you by that which is better than them: The day of Nahr (slaughtering)
and the day of Fitr (breaking fast)." [(saheeh) Musnad Ahmad (3/103, 178, 235
and others)] ""
[5:50] Is it the law of the days of ignorance that they seek to uphold? Whose
law is better than GOD's for those who have attained certainty?
[29:64] This worldly life is no more than vanity and play, while the abode of
the Hereafter is the real life, if they only knew.
[21:16] We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between
them just for amusement.
[3:14] Adorned for the people are the worldly pleasures, such as the women,
having children, piles upon piles of gold and silver, trained horses,
livestock, and crops. These are the materials of this world. A far better abode
is reserved at GOD.
[21:17] If we needed amusement, we could have initiated it without any of this,
if that is what we wanted to do.
[31:6] Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus
divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain.
These have incurred a shameful retribution.
God and His messenger never issue any religious ruling on observing Eid
Fitr at the conclusion of Ramadan.
[6:70] You shall disregard those who take their religion in vain, as if it is
a social function, and are totally absorbed in this worldly life. Remind with
this (Quran), lest a soul may suffer the consequences of its evil earnings. It
has none beside GOD as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor. If it could offer
any kind of ransom, it would not be accepted. They suffer the consequences of
the evil works they earn; they have incurred hellish drinks, and a painful
retribution because of their disbelief.
Following idols who decree religious ruling on behalf of God is a serious
offense as dictated by God Almighty and His messenger.
[42:21] They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized
by GOD. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been
judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful
retribution
Thank you and may God guide all of us,

This is interesting, especially since I have never read any verse in
the Qur'an commanding or guiding us to celebrate Eid. This doesn't mean that
celebrating the Eid ul Fitr, or Eid al Adha are hurtful bidah, or innovations.
There are other obligatory pratices that are not explained in Qur'an, and are
taught through hadith. Do you consider all such things as bidah, and can you
give us some historical background on the practice of celebrating the Eid.

God Almighty and His messenger detail out the ruling on Ramadan in the
following verses of the Quran.
[7:52] We have given them a scripture that is fully detailed, with (1)
knowledge, (2) guidance, and (3) mercy for the people who believe
[2:183] O you believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for
those before you, that you may attain salvation.
[2:184] Specific days (are designated for fasting); if one is ill or
traveling, an equal number of other days may be substituted. Those who can
fast, but with great difficulty, may substitute feeding one poor person for
each day of breaking the fast. If one volunteers (more righteous works), it is
better. But fasting is the best for you, if you only knew.
[2:185] Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing
guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you
who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may
substitute the same number of the other days. God wishes for you convenience,
not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify God for
guiding you, and to express your appreciation.
[2:186] When My servants ask you about Me, I am always near. I answer their
prayers when they pray to Me. The people shall respond to Me and believe in
Me, in order to be guided.
[2:187] Permitted for you is sexual intercourse with your wives during the
nights of fasting. They are the keepers of your secrets, and you are the
keepers of their secrets. God knew that you used to betray your souls, and He
has redeemed you, and has pardoned you. Henceforth, you may have intercourse
with them, seeking what God has permitted for you. You may eat and drink until
the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night
at dawn. Then, you shall fast until sunset. Sexual intercourse is prohibited
if you decide to retreat to the masjid (during the last ten days of Ramadan).
These are God's laws; you shall not transgress them. God thus clarifies His
revelations for the people, that they may attain salvation.
[97:1] We revealed it in the Night of Destiny. [97:2] How awesome is the
Night of Destiny!
[97:3] The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months. [97:4] The
angels and the Spirit descend therein, by their Lord's leave, to carry out
every command.
[97:5] Peaceful it is until the advent of the dawn.

Assalamu'alaikum wr wb,
For many centuries Muslims all over the world celebrate the Eid in different
day. Saudi, Iran, Malay, Indonesia celebrate Eid in different days. Even the
countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei who live side by side still
celebrating in different day.
It shows that Muslims are not united. Muslims are divided.
Our prophet says that if a good Muslim see hilal (moon), then all countries
should break their fast and the Eid has come.
If all Muslim scholars from all over the world united and work together to find
out when the Eid come, then Muslim could celebrate the Eid together just like
the Christian celebrate Natal on December 25th.
