In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with
Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah
guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one
can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness
that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Christmas
orginally posted by Imran Ayub

·       Christmas (literally, the Mass of Christ) is a holiday in the Christian
calendar, usually observed on December 25, which celebrates “the birth” of
Jesus (Peace be upon him). However, there is no Scriptural evidence of
Christmas in the Bible [1]. As discussed earlier, birthdays is not a tradition
of Muslims or the People of the Book, but rather a pagan tradition, based on
myth an superstition, much like Halloween, for example

·        Origins:-The Romans had a pagan feast called 'saturnalia' that was
observed during the early part of winter [2], what we now call 'December', and
its heathen[3] feast and practices fell towards the end of the month. In 313 CE
[4], when Paul came to the Romans and the NEW Christianity was formed [5] they
decided to mix the roman traditional feast with new Christianity so as to make
people aware of and become Christians [6]. It was someone called Pope Gregory
The First around 600 CE., who specifically instructed Augustine, the Archbishop
of Canterbury, to adapt existing local religious (pagan or otherwise) customs
and practices to Christian usage.

·        In addition, many places in the bible Indicated that 25th December is
actually may NOT be when Jesus (Peace be upon him) was born[7].

·        But most Christians know that Christmas is not part of the Christian
Tradition, so why do they do it?

·        They reason they do it is because it’s become a custom. You could call
it an "innovation" or Bid’ah, in the Religion of Jesus (Peace be upon him)

·        And Santa Claus, was a from the story of someone called Saint Nicholas
[8]  and eventually the person we see today (red jacked white beard) as Santa
Claus was a creation of the Coca Cola Company. He has no connection to
Christianity. He was just an invention and a marketing tool for those who wish
to sell products on Christmas. All stories of his are lies that parents made up
to explain to their intuitive children who wanted to where this mysterious man
came from and where he lives. This brings up the question of the effect of
lying to kids (at an age where they are learning) by their parents…

·        Can Muslims celebrate Christmas ? No[9], The evidence of which is
below:-

“O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Auliyâ' (friends,
protectors, helpers, etc.), they are but Auliyâ' to one another. And if any
amongst you takes them as Auliyâ', then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allâh
guides not those people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers and
unjust).”[10]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whomever imitates the kuffar is one of
them. ” [11]

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever imitates a people is one of
them.’”[12]

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as
saying: You would tread the same path as was trodden by those before you inch
by inchand step by step so much so that if they had entered into the hole of
the lizard, you would follow them in this also. We said: Allah's Messenger, do
you mean Jews and Christians (by your words)" those before you"? He said: Who
else (than those two religious groups)? [13]

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST

[1] and Jesus (Peace be upon him) never celebrated it and it was never
practised for 300 years after Jesus (Peace be upon him) either!

[3] Literally means "heath-dweller", and refers to practitioners of the Norse
pagan faith. [www.winterscapes.com/uppsala/glossary.htm]

[4] CE means Christian Era. We don’t say AD because AD means Anno Domini, or
The Year of Our Lord and WE don’t see Jesus as “Lord”.

[5] Paul was a late Christian who actually abandoned jesus first. Then later,
he travelled to rome after Jesus died, and He and the roman leader,
Constantine, Decided to make all romans Christians, and to do this,
Christianity had to change. So it was then when the Christians changed their
beliefs from Jesus being a Prophet to Jesus being God. And It was then when the
bible was compiled and ALL other books were removed, why? They decided it
themselves!! So how can it be the word of Allah?

[6] It’s was like a da’wah event for them, and so is the story “passion of the
Christ” – it was too used “sell” Christianity to the pagans

[7] Was Jesus (peace be upon him) born on december 25?

[8] As legend has it, St. Nicholas was born in A.D. 270 in the ancient Turkish
port city of Patara . He became Bishop of a nearby town called Myra (now called
Kale), and after a life full of miracles and acts of charity, died on December
6, A.D. 343. He was canonized a saint in the Ninth Century. During this time,
the beliefs of Christianity blended with the existing religious heritage of its
converts. The holy days of the Christmas season were celebrated side-by-side
with many local feasts and festivals. By the 13th Century, French nuns
celebrated the feast of St. Nicholas by leaving food at the doors of the poor.
As his legend grew, the feast of St. Nicholas became a day of gift giving in
Germany and Holland . Shortly thereafter, St. Nicholas became associated with
Christmas and the birth of Christ.
