Hadith

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 5188
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud®

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him)
slept on a reed mat
and got up with the marks of it on his body,

so Ibn Mas'ud® said,

"Messenger of Allah,
I wish you would order us
to spread something out for you
and make something."

He (peace be upon him) replied,

"What have I to do with the world?
In relation to the world I am just like a rider
who shades himself under a tree,
then goes off and leaves it."

Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it,

***

Narrated Abu Dhar® : Once, while I was
in the company of the Prophet (peace be upon him),
he (peace be upon him) saw the mountain of Uhud and said,

"I would not like to have this mountain
turned into Gold
for me unless nothing of it,
not even a single Dinar remains of it with
me
for more than three days
(i.e. I will spend all of it in Allah's
Cause),
except that Dinar which I will keep for repaying debts."

Then
he (peace be upon him) said,

"Those who are rich in this world
would have little reward in
the Hereafter
except those who spend their money
here and there (in
Allah's Cause),
and they are few in number."

(Sahih bukhari: Book #41, Hadith #573)

***

Narrated Abu Huraira®: Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said,

"If I had Gold equal to the mountain of Uhud,
it would not please me that it should remain with me
for more than
three days,
except an amount which I would keep for repaying debts."

(Sahih Bukhari: Book #41, Hadith #574)

Narrated 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
Fatima sent somebody to Abu Bakr
 asking him to give
her her inheritance from the Prophet
from what Allah had given to His
Apostle through Fai
(i.e. booty gained without fighting)...

Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): said,

"Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said,

'We (Prophets), our property is not inherited,
and whatever we leave is
Sadaqa,
but muhammad's family can eat from this property,
 i.e. Allah's property,
but they have no right to take
more than the food they need.'

(Sahih Bukhari: Book #57, Hadith #60)

***

Narrated 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):

The family of Muhammad (peace be upon him)
had never eaten their fill of wheat bread
for three successive days
since they had migrated to Medina
till the death of the Prophet.

(Sahih Bukhari: Book #76, Hadith #461)

***

Narrated 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):

A complete month would pass by during which
we would
not make a fire (for cooking),
and our food used to be only dates and water
unless we were given a present of some meat.

(Sahih Bukhari: Book #76, Hadith #465)

***

Narrated Mujahid® : 'Abdullah bin 'Umar® said,
"Allah's Apostle took hold of my shoulder and said,

'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler."

The sub-narrator added: Ibn 'Umar used to say,

"If you survive till the evening,
do not expect to be alive in the morning,
and if you survive till the morning,
do not expect to be alive in the evening,

and take from your health for your sickness,
and (take) from your life for your death."

(Sahih Bukhari: Book #76, Hadith #425)
