As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh;
Sista2Sista Inc. is a nonprofit organization that has since its
inception worked diligently to address the socio-economic ills that have
adversely affected families in our community. Primarily we assist
victims of Domestic and Family Violence. Sista2Sista Inc. provides
resources, referrals and advocacy services for Muslims that call into
our Nationwide Resource & Referral Hotline; our effort has been to
successfully connect Muslims in need and/or crisis with service
providers that are culturally sensitive and aware to the unique needs of
Muslims.
In light of the services that Allah (SWT) has blessed us to provide to
the Muslim and Non Muslim Community alike and in addition to the recent
media frenzy with the "Honor Killings" and the Medias'
misconception of its association with Islam; we are pleased to announce
our upcoming weekend Community Awareness Conference. The conference
will educate Service Providers with at least a one percent Muslim client
population on "Sensitivity & Awareness"; Core components of this
undertaking will consist of Managing Muslim Clients; Dispelling the
myths of Domestic Violence and Islam; Honor Killing religion or culture;
etc.
The "Strengthening the Muslim Family through Community
Awareness" conference is an approach to educate the Muslim Community
At Large on a holistic level that will foster awareness, community
involvement, activism, building strong alliances and so much more!
This event is sure to educate and enlighten all in attendance. Our
goals are to educate, mediate and network.
