What are the > best C# books? Anyone know of good examples of reading and writing > to text files? Hi I wanted to Reply to your questions. First of all I have read books by deitel in C++, Java, vb.net and C#. The impression (my opinion) is that deitel and deitel books are very good for introductory programming. Do you believe some people find their books too hard. I am a big fan of deitel books. I feel C# is a good starting point(jesse Liberty is another good book I have read the reviews) My biggest criticism is THe chapters on asp.net were not very helpful(I enjoyed jesse Liberty's programming asp.net (some people enjoyed asp.net unleashed although this book is written in vb not vb.net. Vb.net is available on cd) My biggest criticism of C# it attempts to do too much. I really enjoyed the chapters on xml mobile controls etc. I would recommend C# however the .net arena is a huge area asp.net, ado.net .net web applications .net web forms, .net xml etc etc. I am sorry I can't help you about text files. You may want to look under .net window forms I would look under all three publishers web sites prentice hall (Apress-owned by wiley-by the way they give you samples of their code on their web site) I also like oreilly books. I would also look under amazon for other reviews. If you can find a good book store spend a couple hours looking at books. By the way jason salas has a web site guam-asp.net/bookreviews he also does reviews in this forum. He also did a great review of those three publishers!Recommendation: next book get a good book asp.net (programming asp.net jesse liberty (o'reilly)(C#, vb.net) Please be aware that the new version of asp.net 2.0 makes it easier to use data grids I hope this helps Jesse liberty did a book on C# I would look at it (just make sure nothing is repeated) By the way the denver user-group on .net has some good book reviews as well. Please remember everyone has a different opinion on what makes a good book! I hope this helps! ------------------------ Yahoo!
