Jesse's book is Mediocre at best. Too shallow in most chapters. Most of the code is not the best C# code nor its it the best ASP.ne code. A book should teach a lot of great things. This books is less useful than googling and surfing the web.
I recommend the Murach book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=1890774227/learnasp and C# ASP.net Essentials http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0201760401/learnasp as perfect Combo. Murach book has great Vstudio and C# Syntax coverage and OO fundamentals and is just a pleasure to read with lots of correct code and great Vstudio IDE coverage. http://www.learnasp.com/CHAZ/portal/alias__Rainbow/lang__en-US/tabID__3405/DesktopDefault.aspx has the best C# books if you want to fucther your library. Vstudio and few good books except the Murrach book and Mastering Visual Studio.net http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0596003609/learnasp which is for intermediates not beginners for after you read Murrach and want a ton of tips and tricks.
