No. You install TeX and add MusiXTeX. You install PMX and use it e.g. with barsant.pmx. Then you get a TeX source, which may be processed with plain TeX, musixflx and again with plain TeX. You don't need to know any TeX-macro introduced by MusiXTeX. With PMX you can write rather complex compositions without knowing any MusiXTeX macro. PMX has that knowledge for you. -- Werner
