But only if YOU suppress the bar lines behind the dotted quarters.

The examples prints for me as

          I  _______  I        I  _______  I
 3 |      I  |  |  |  I |      I  |  |  |  I
 8 e.     I  e  e  e  I e.     I  e  e  e  I
 
          ^                    ^  there are bar lines, too.
