Followup question on this. Current hcache code uses four bytes of the md5 hash of the header struct code as a "CRC" checksum. This patch keeps with that convention. It's been suggested (on irc) that it would be safer to use the full hash value -- presumably as a binary bitstring. I don't have strong feelings either way, but:
