 Sorry, this doesn't tell my very much.  It just has the same thing you
 already wrote ("The standard reference for the implementation of this
 functionality is RFC 2822") and some screenshots.  I don't see anything in
 the screenshots that mutt doesn't do already, except for some X-headers
 which are not specified in the XSMTP plugin web site.  RFC2822 does not
 specify ''any'' X-headers -- if they were in 2822 they wouldn't start with
 X-. So I'm still not sure what's being requested without using the XSMTP
 Thunderbird extension or reading its code and inferring.

 Could you please be more specific? What capability of this XSMTP plugin do
 you feel is missing in mutt?
