Thanks for the information. Upstream 2.1.26 doesn't have these marked as
deprecated, so it's hard to tell what Apple is up to.
Usually I would like to take care of these warnings by trying to use the
newer/recommended function, but in this case there doesn't appear to be
one. So for now, the best I can say is to build *with* sasl and just
ignore the compile warnings. The warnings won't effect the final built
mutt binary in any way.
I'm going to mark this bug as "won't fix" for now, but if later on these
warnings turn into compile errors (the functions disappear), or you happen
to come across any information as to why Apple has done this, please feel
free to re-open or create another ticket.
