This is currently applied in my branch `kevin/main`. Due to the change in behavior, the patch is not without risk, so I'm cautious about applying it to stable.

What do others on the list think? If others think it's worth it to fix the behavior, I will apply it to stable for the 2.6.7 release (which I need to get that out in the next week or so).

It looks like there aren't any strong opinions on this.

So, I think I'll take the risk in this case and add it to 2.2.7, with the caveat that if it breaks anyone's $query_command I'll revert it.
