Yes, I'm pretty certain there is a bug in their implementation. Mutt won't use the extension unless it's advertised by the server. You can double check that LIST-EXTENDED is in their CAPABILITY response in your .muttdebug0 log file.
It looks like the server gets confused when "RETURN (CHILDREN)" is added to the LIST command, and is returning no mailboxes for some reason.
