Prior to RFC 4155 there was no requirement for the From_ line to be in UTC, and I think every client I've ever used has put local time there. I can see why it would be attractive to define this as UTC, but that is a change to common practice and I don't think there is any obligation to implement it when that differs from established long-standing behaviour. The format defined in RFC 4155 only applies to clients that claim conformance with that RFC. imc
