I came across a Debian bug mentioning swithing to tkrzw. I hadn't heard
of it, but seems like it's the successor to both Kyoto Cabinet and Tokyo
Cabinet.

https://dbmx.net/tkrzw/

[ironically, it looks like the Debian package of tkrzw is, itself,
orphaned]

Tkrzw _also_ doesn't seem to have had any commits since 2024,

Would it make sense to add support for this (and, potentially, drop
support for one or both of the older variants, eventually)? Or is anyone
aware of anything else in the space that is actively maintained?

I don't have a lot of context on how hard it would be to update, but I
do find that the header caching plugin is much faster with one of these
backends enabled.
