The manual says:
To subscribe to one of the following mailing lists, send a message
with the word subscribe in the subject to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Majordomo says:
**** Commands must be in message BODY, not in HEADER.
Commands in the "Subject:" line are NOT processed.
