Oops, I almost missed it.

That exactly is my problem. :-)
But in the pager it displays correctly, right?

Same here.  But, eh, we are talking about the From line! :-)
That, too, mutt encodes similar (just the necessary part).

No, in the other the whole line is encoded:
 From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Oberdeutsche_Provinz_SJ_K.d.=F6.R.?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The strange part - which makes me believe that it's a bug in mutt - is that
it displays perfectly right in the pager.  Just in the index it doesn't.
That should be a pretty clear symptom, right?
