Except for the choice of browsers, that's exactly what I have my mailcap
configured to do:
text/html; w3m %s; nametemplate=%s.html
text/html; w3m -dump %s; nametemplate=%s.html; copiousoutput
Substitute "links" for "w3m" and you should be all set. Also, if you
haven't done so already, make sure this line is in your muttrc:
auto_view text/html
