   Ah, yes. Bells and chords. That's self-consistent for the editor.

   Finding ^C neither in the ? help, nor in the manual (either as ^C or
   [Cc]ontrol-C), there seems to be scope for hacking the source to
   provide a standard escape as an alternative to the Unix-inconsistent
   one. 

   It might even be possible to say that this would be of general
   benefit.
