Mutt is reporting an error occured because the proces is exiting with status code 1 instead of 0. You'd have to figure out why the editor is doing that. As a temporarily workaround if you are certain that Elvis is working properly, you could create a wrapper shell script which will return 0 and have Mutt use the script instead of directly invoking Elvis. me
