Verification?
I verify by running ":set ?folder" after entering one of the IMAP inboxes;
the status line shows "~/Mail".
Guide/Actions?
No, I hadn't seen that. I'm glad to know about it, though. However,
nothing there seems to bear on my question.
DebugConfig?
Yes, I had read that pretty carefully before my original email, and had
tried everything that was feasible to try. Eliminating the system-wide
Muttrc file didn't change anything (as I suspected). Nor did adding a
default pattern at the beginning of .muttrc
folder-hook . "set folder=~/mail"
(again, as I suspected)--except that now the value of "folder" (after
entering one of the IMAP inboxes) is displayed in the status line as
"~/mail", rather than "~/Mail".
Am I misunderstanding what the mutt manual (manual.txt, Chapter 6, Section
6) is saying? It seems to imply that, with the simple .muttrc file I showed
in my previous message, that the "folder" variable will be set to the
specified value when I enter the INBOX of one of the IMAP accounts. (And
this is certainly not occurring.) But maybe that's not what it means?
Please enlighten me.
Thanks much for your time.
