The folder-hook above for setting $status_format is merely a convenient way to
re-evaluate whenever your enter a new mailbox. Yes, it is overkill when
switching mailboxes on the same IMAP account.
I'm not sure how you are proposing to use Maildir folders. folder-hook works
fine with IMAP folders as well.
