I've played with some mutt settings yesterday and thought why not use TLS to
connect to the IMAP server. This is the way it should be anyway.

It turns out mutt reports less folders (!) to have new mail if I use TLS than
if I use an unenrypted connection. I can reproduce this any time I switch from
unencrypted to TLS and back changing the following parameters from "imap" to
"imaps":

set folder=imap://mail.state-of-mind.de/
set spoolfile=imap://mail.state-of-mind.de/INBOX
set record="imap://mail.state-of-mind.de/sent-mail"
set postponed="imap://mail.state-of-mind.de/drafts"

Can anybody else verify this behaviour? Am I missing a setting I should
enable?

After all, it might be mutt isn't the culprit, but Dovecot. I am using dovecot
1:1.0.10-1ubuntu as IMAP server.
