Can you confirm if you have set: set ssl_starttls = yes set ssl_force_tls = yes and you are connecting to @imap.gmail.com:993. > I'm a little confused about why google consider this unsafe. I don't know why this is happening in your case. I have Google's "Access for less secure apps" turned On and I have no problem (yet) connecting to their IMAP4 server.
