It's the %u in $attach_format. It will show '-' if the attachment will be unlinked after sending. This is usually the case for tempfiles. If you invoke 'G' <get-attachment>, it converts an attachment to a tempfile and sets the unlink flag. 'u' <toggle-unlink> toggles the state of the flag.
