Senior level role that involves understanding client and business unit requirements, and designing and deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and business units to achieve their operational and business goals. ? Required to prepare recommendations and supporting details for formal proposals for network connectivity and configurations. ? Day-to-day interaction with telecom providers, equipment suppliers and 3rd party network vendors, to engage their technical resources to perform tasks. ? Resource can expect to routinely be called upon to analyze and interpret traffic and utilization of services on network connections. ? Participation in disaster recovery exercises, pre-production certification testing and troubleshooting events is expected. ? Develop and execute status reporting, risk mitigation plans. Responsibilities Senior level role responsible for development of professional level designs and documentation, establishing standard network configurations and overseeing the deployment of network solutions to clients and business units. Serves as subject matter expert in data networking technology and communications, and is senior level resource to internal staff and business leadership. Provides recommendations to the business and to clients for technological improvements, updates, changes and network conversions that drive higher efficiency, scalability and best in class use of technology. Responsible for performing analysis and research to identify potential risks and service issues throughout the network fabric, and makes recommendations for preventative or corrective action. Facilitates projects that address network–wide issues, and should be first tier expert for evaluating network for issues for fault tolerance, single points of failure and other risks to service capability. Job Description: Network Engineering Test and modify vendor-supplied operating systems and the associated configurations as needed. • Develop network designs as identified and plan implementations with other local team members. • Develop block diagrams, logic flowcharts, detailed schematics and associated documentation. • OS review, prepare test data, test and debug and manage implementation of OS upgrades. • Produce documentation for all network components and architecture created within the department. • Assist operational staff with moderately complex support issues. • Assist the operational teams with root cause analysis and solutions to moderately complex production issues. • May proactively identify potential issues in the production environment and help recommend potential solutions. • Conduct analysis of systems specifications and use analysis/diagramming tools to represent business/technical processes. • Recommend changes in maintenance and systems standard Skills and Knowledge Required • Good working knowledge of network and IP designs for data centers including Internet and secure zones, redundancy & dynamic routing protocols. • Good working knowledge of Cisco IOS for switching, routing and VPN platforms. • Good working knowledge of load-balancing technologies. • Good troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of packet decoding tools. • Good communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in the development process. • Good project leadership or team-lead skills. • Acquire/enhance network expertise, keeping up with evolving technology.
