Subject: Results of the TradeBriefs 'Industry Opinion' contest - March 2011

Dear Mahendra,

Thank you for the excellent response to the 'Industry Opinion' contest
announced
on Feb 25. We received over 75 entries over the past month. The number of
qualifying articles received (by industry) is below.

Finance - 25
Retail - 15
FMCG - 16
Software - 14
Telecom - 5

The winner of the TradeBriefs Industry Opinion contest is Salar Mohamed Bijili.
He has received a cash prize of Rs 10,000. With a total score of 25/30, his
article 'Changing demographics and lifestyle - An impending crisis in India'
received the highest total score from our judges on the 3 aspects of
'Originality', 'Critical Thinking' and 'Relevance to Industry participants'.

The article very ably raises awareness about and critically analyzes an issue
that receives less attention in the general business media, but is quickly
becoming very important - the financial needs of the growing elderly population
in an India that is changing, with the young leading busy lives in nuclear
families, coupled with a poor retirement infrastructure from the government and
private sector.

The decision for the best opinion piece was tough, with several high quality
articles making it to the final list of nominees (below).

Social Media Z to A: Z is for Zynga by Rajit Ojha - This article highlights a
unique dependence between the world's largest social network and one of the
largest gaming companies and how future scenarios could evolve.

Evolution of Shopping Malls: Lessons from the pioneering Malls in India by
Amanpreet Banga and Dr Harvinder Singh - This article takes us down memory lane
and analyzes how we can learn from the initial mistakes in a fledgling industry
that is now the talk of the Indian business community.

Going local: Leading Retailers are adopting assortment merchandising practices
that align with consumer preferences at the store level by David Bray - This
article highlights one of the biggest challenges for large retailers today and
suggests how technology can play an important role for retailers to go local in
their approach.

Impact Investing by Govind Shivkumar - The article highlights the need for a
more responsible style of investing and mentoring, re-iterating the "bottom of
the pyramid" approach, but for the investing community.

The International Formats have come to stay by Dheeraj Dogra - The article
takes
us down memory lane and establishes why international brands, after several
years of experimentation, are finally here to stay.

We also take this opportunity to make the following announcements.

- As many of you may have noticed, in our quest to encourage thought
leadership,
we have launched LinkedIn Groups for each industry, with the same names as the
newsletters. Several thousand of your colleagues have joined in already. Take a
moment to join your industry group if you haven't already. Relevant and
thought-provoking discussions are happening on each group every day. Quoting
Victor Hugo, "Greater than the tread of mighty armies is an idea whose time has
come". You can also find links to discussions through our daily newsletters
from
the 'Read More / Join the Discussion' link in every issue.

- Keep an eye out for the next round of the 'Industry Opinion' contest, which
will be announced shortly.
