I've made some progress with my MVP box - I can now view recorded MythTV files
(using the Myth protocol). My problems were a combination of MythTV
mis-configuration, some firewall issues, and general confusion about how
mvpmc works.

The next hurdle I'm facing is to get other video files to play via the VLC
server. I'm setting up an NFS mount point for the directory containing the
files that reflects the directory structure on the server. The files play
okay locally on the server, and I have VLC set up to listen on port 4212. On
the MVP box, I can log in and see the files using 'ls'. Using the OSD
filebrowser, however, the files are invisible. I can browse to the correct
directory, but it shows no files there. After being stymied by that problem,
I created a playlist in the root directory that pointed to one of the video
files. The filebrowser did show the playlist file, but when I selected it, I
got a "VLC/VLM setup error" message.

Any suggestions as to what to try next?
