As a follow to my earlier message on gmane.org, Jon was able to provide gmane with the archived message from sourceforge and a complete history of mail will be available online. Currently the devel list is online with 3012 messages and the user list is expected to follow.
I know that using a news reader will make reading the old files much easier.
