Hi Stuart!

Thanks for both your posts. Much appreciated.

I'm actually going for a more lo-tech approach than live video over VNC. I
just want to access the gui features of Freevo (tv guide, recording control,
manage saved programs, weather plugin, etc). I store mpegs in a Samba share
which is mounted by the mvpmc for playback using the file browser.

Up till now, I've been using freevo-webserver to do all that, as the box is a
SOHO server, and I don't want Freevo taking over the console display.

Basically, I just need to configure key mappings to navigate the Freevo gui.
Prelim testing shows Freevo sees the keypresses; they just don't work as they
should. By transmit accross, I meant to say what does mvpmc pass through to
the vnc server?

Thanks for your posts. That gives me something to go on.

Have a great weekend!

/Mike

Hi again Michael...

I re-read your post, looked at the Freevo web site and now think I
understand what you want to do. Are you trying to create a remote thin
video and audio client to a computer running Freevo? I don't think this
will work as I don't believe VNC normally provides a remote audio
feature. That, plus I think you will run into problems sending moving
pictures using VNC. I am wondering how VNC compresses video. It might
be orders of magnitude more efficient to send a video mpeg over your
network. To that end, are there any Freevo clients out there that you
can port to the MVPMC project? I would think that would be the best way
to go.
