Stuart has basically answered most of your question, apart from the bit 
where you complain about the maximum volume being rather low. I'm afraid 
there are no other volume controls that we're aware of on the MVP, and 
this rather rubbish volume seems to be as far as it's willing to go. As 
far as I'm aware everyone has to wind their TV volume up a bit too far, 
certainly with MVPMC (I can't speak for the hauppauge software, on the few 
occasions i've tried to run it i couldn't even get it to boot).
