That would probably be a good command line and / or dongle.config option. I know Jon doesn't want to add much more to the command line, but I like the idea of an initial volume setting. Most of the developers are using an external amplifier where they are controlling the volume. So the default 255 is preferred. Also, which mvpmc feature are you talking about. I think all but the MClient feature start with a default of 255. The MClient feature should start at the setting found in the slimserver.
