I wonder if maybe this is happening because the Hauppauge firmware has inspected your .ver file and thinks the version isn't newer than what it already has, so it never loads mvpmc. Try generating a new .ver file following the instructions on the wiki. I think there was something on one of the mailing lists quite a few months back about there being a problem with the way the .ver files were generated.
