Ok, I stuck what I think is Roger's original /bin/bash script here: http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/ HOWTOs mediaservers mythtv -or- http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/mythtv ...if you just want to jump there. I stuck it under a new header called: Transcoding Transcoding from formats incompatible to the mvpmc project as a job on the mythbackend server can be used to allow viewing of high definition videos and / or listen to videos originally encoded with only AC3 audio. This technique converts a file (currently this is done manually - the object is to integrate this script as a mythtv user job) to a mvpmc compatible format. There are no plans to save the original file. So features of the original file such as multi channel sound or high definitions video will be lost. ------------------- Quickly, I believe you need to locate the file you want to transcode, rename it from <file>.mpg to <file>, run the bash script which will generate a transcoded file called <file>.mpg. If someone knows how mythtv invokes scripts we could re-wirte this to execute autonomously under control of the mythbackend server. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
