Ah, it's been a while... Many of you may not know it, but MVPMC supports IEE Vacuum Florescent Displays with serial port adapters. I haven't done anything with the MVPMC code for ages and I am sure it needs a good overhaul. (To see an MVPMC with an IEE VFD in action go look at the bottom of the MVPMC's Hardware Howto.)
But that's not why I am posting. I just came across a new Bose offering called a Lifestyle V30 Home Theater System. Yes it has a display - big deal. What's interesting is it has a independent display box you can put anywhere - like on top of your TV. We (MVPMC) can do that. http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8551/8551042_sa.jpg Now comes the time to eat my hat. It was suggested to me, probably a year ago, to try this on the MVPMC. There are many inexpensive serial port 1 way radio modules out there. I dismissed it as an added trouble point and effort for little payoff. Now it appear a high end stereo manufacturer is doing exactly that. Good thing I don't wear a hat! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
