Most users seem to find that the existing fast forward speed (which is
2x or 3x - I don't remember which) can't be maintained due to the
buffers running out of data. A 4x or higher rate would just exhaust the
buffers even faster and give you only a few seconds of fast forward time
before the video would start stuttering.

Some research needs to be done to figure out exactly where the
bottleneck is, as by my calculations the system should have adequate
bandwidth to achieve sustained fast forward with the bitrate videos I'm
using. (My suspicion is that the bottleneck is in the mvpmc code that
shuffles the bits between the network buffers, demux, and hardware
playback buffers.)
