Either a reboot (via menu) or a power off/on (green button) fixes it, I
generally do a reboot if I am getting enough response to do it,
otherwise I use the green button.

I have noticed that deleting a few shows will almost always cause it.

Yes, the please wait seems to happen about the same times, but usually
I get to the point (first) where it paints a line (say on the recording
screen) waits a second or more and then paints another line and
continues on. Hitting the green off button and then back on does
appear to fix it (so not a full reboot-just a mvpmc restart?).
