Thank you for this answer Volker ! There is a turnaround for this problem: I used bash and pdftk to link together various "partial" books with intermediary header pages (in PDF). This works quite well, but the page numbering and the TOC may not be correctly achieved this way... Please consider this JSON/PDF/mw-render mixing capability in your future NTH.
