Ok, I suppose there is something wrong in my python installation: which easy_install python /usr/bin/easy_install /opt/local/bin/python
It seems that I have a python version mix up. I am getting busy to solve this. (python was version 2.6, there is no easy_install for 2.6 installed it seems: I am now trying to make 2.7 the default python through macports install) Thanks for the pointer.
