+1. A robust template system with relative dates would be immenselly useful
to me as well.

Subject: [MLO] Feature Request - Task Series Editor

I appreciate to an extent this might be accomplished to a degree via
templates, but I just find this option is not very use friendly.

What I am looking for is a way to define a series of tasks, in a list. Then
the ability to add that 'task series' from a defined start date or no date.
So a typical example might be this for 'New Project Task Series' which would
involve the following steps which I would re-use :-

* Define Project in MLO - add details to notes - (Due Date Today)
* Assign Project Number (Due Date + 0)
* Assign Project View (Due Date + 0)
* Assign Project Context (Due Date + 0)
* Test Project View and Project Context (Due Date + 1)
*       Define Ultimate Deadline - ( Due Date + 2)
* Define Intermediate Deadline and Review Dates - (Due Date + 4)
* Map out project phases - (Due Date + 6)
* Schedule project start date - (Due Date + 7)

Generally this structure would be stored under a 'New Project Task Series'
name. I would be able to edit, rename, modify lag times, move around the
order of the tasks, add contexts, define reminders, perhaps even define
dependencies etc. Due Date + 2 means this item will have a due date two days
after the initial actions due date, when the initial activity series was
first created.

An option to 'Add Task Series' at any point in the Outline structure as
child or sibling, then select from the pre-defined options. Right click
option - Add Dated Task Series > New Project Task Series. Add Task Series >
New Project Task Series (undated)

Modification, administration of the Task Series would be done as a separate
entity, such as managing views, contexts etc. Via the Task Series Editor.

I have personally found these types of task/activity series useful in both
Act and Chaos Intellect. They can be more useful than they first appear.
Although I have used a Project example, perhaps more typically contact with
a prospect might be utilised in the task series to make sure you follow-up x
number of days after first contact. But they can also be utilised for quick
checklists, Car Maintenance for example with each task having the due date
of today.

I know fundamentally a lot of this can be achieved via other means, I just
think it would be neater plus easier for people to use if it was managed as
separate entity. With devoted options, management box etc. Like I say
similar in some respects to managing views, that type of principle.

All the best

Steve
