Thanks--this helped me find the problem. Outlook 2007 has both "to-do's" and "tasks." I was syncing from MLO to Outlook to-dos, which don't get synced to the smartphone using active sync. (at least for mine they don't).
So I chose in the MLO sync to put the items into the Tasks folder, and now it all works. Paul.
