You can choose not to create a copy of a recurring task upon its
completion. That way you avoid cluttering up the task tree with
entries of the same (completed) task. However, you lose the
information about the completion dates of this recurring task.

By creating a new property "completion dates" for a task, you would
maintain the information about the completion dates of a task without
creating a copy of the same task over and over again. However, this
list should also be editable.

I think this should be quite simple to implement by adding just
another property (or a list of dates) to a task. Also it wouldn't
disturb any existing functionality, because it's some additional
(optional) data assigned to a task.
