For me it would be important to retain the offline capability on the mobile
device as I do a lot of my organising while underground away from network
connections (London tube).

I'm not bothered about the iPhone as I use a Pocket PC for its superior data
handling capabilities, but I wouldn't want to see its data store moved to the
net only.

As I've said before I'd rather see a common file structure between the desktop
and mobile versions to remove the need to synchronise. This would also work for
your purpose as you'd just store the file on a web server.

Subject: [MLO] Feature Request: MLO Mobile

I have a vision of how I will be able to use MLO anytime, anywhere,
and always with my current data. That vision involves a web-based
application, offline capability, native application for the iPhone,
and a Jott link. I know I have rolled 4 feature requests all into one,
but they are all inter-related in my mind.

I have been an avid user of MLO since April 2005, and I have averaged
6 to 10 hours in this application each and every day for the past 4
years. About 2 years ago, I purchased an OQO Ultimate Mobile Personal
Computer (UMPC), a computer with a form factor slightly larger than a
Pocket PC, but running Vista Ultimate as its OS. I made this purchase
because I wanted the MLO desktop application with me at all times.

Three weeks ago I damaged my OQO and had to send it back to the
manufacturer for repair. In looking for a temporary digital
alternative to my OQO, I have discovered the wonderful world of web-
based applications, the iPhone, and Jott!

I first purchased the iPhone, a beautifully-designed device that
allows me to have immediate and anywhere access to my email, calendar,
contacts, internet, and so much more. Task management is not a native
application on the iPhone, which led me to Toodledo, a web-based task
management application. MLO is far superior to Toodledo and I will
switch back to MLO exclusively as soon as MLO's iPhone application
becomes available.

I mention Toodledo because I was very surprised at how much I liked
the advantage of a web-based application in having my data available
to me no matter which computer I was on at the time. I use 3
computers, a desktop, a tablet PC, and the OQO UMPC. Keeping my MLO
data synchronized between these 3 computers is a chore, but doable.
With MLO web-based, the synchronization of the data would be
transparent to the user and readily available and current at all
times, regardless of the computer at hand.

Toodledo has a Jott link which means the user can create new tasks
with voice, which is extremely productive when using the iPhone. I
remember other users requesting the MLO iPhone application to include
a Jott link, and I would add my voice to theirs as well.

In purchasing software for my iPhone, I have discovered 3 types of
iPhone applications in terms of integration with other devices.

Level 1:
iPhone synchronizes with local area network computer. eWallet is an
example of an application at this level. The eWallet iPhone
application synchronizes its data with a local area networked computer
using Wi-Fi technology. This approach is of limited use relative to
Levels 2 and 3.

Level 2:
iPhone synchronizes with web-based application. Toodledo is a good
example of this type of synchronization. Toodledo has a native
application for the iPhone, but its web-based application has no off-
line capabilities.

Level 3:
iPhone synchronizes with a web-based application with off-line
capabilities. Evernote is a good example of this approach. Evernote
has a native application for the iPhone, a web-based application, and
a stand-alone application that can be installed on your computer for
offline capabilities. I believe that this would be ideal approach for
MLO.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.
