Hello, We have come up with a set of improvement proposals that we believe would improve this already excellent task-management software. The topics include:
Topics: 1) Scheduled file synchronization 2) Enhanced usability for Nokia mobile phones 3) Previous actions' notes visible to current task 4) Input parsing functionality to recognize start and end properties 5) Completing sub-tasks in order set as default for projects (setting) 6) Sub-tasks should always have it's main project's notes visible 7) Project fields for GTD Purpose, Mission, and Outcome 8) A relational database back-end for MLO 9) Bug-fix for input-parsing when parsing special characters Detailed Explanation: 1) File synchronization (F9) automated as in outlook synchronization, with synchronization intervals. This would greatly improve usability. It is very frustrating to always remember to press the F9-key when leaving the office. 2) Possibility to include context before subject, not only after subject, as it is currently implemented. This would greatly enhance the convenience of using MLO with Nokia mobile phones via Outlook synchronization. This is due to that Nokia calendar does not currently support Outlook categories, hence tasks would be ordered alphabetically in the Nokia phone task list. 3) It should be possible for a next action to display previously completed actions' Task Note information, or tasks' information for which it has dependencies to. It is often of interest to know any notes from a previous next action, eg. if a project is to call a person called Fred; the first task is to get Fred's phone number. Upon receiving the phone number, you type down the phone number in the task's Task Note -field. The next task is to call Fred. At this stage you need to see the phone number, retrieved from the previous task. Without seeing the Task Note of the previous task, it is inconvenient to have to parse the already completed task to retrieve the phone number. 4) Input parsing could be able to recognize start and end notions. E.g. "Complete this task start today end tomorrow" should set start date to today, and have an end date tomorrow. 5) a setting in MLO for having projects tasks automatically to be completed in order. A task containing subtasks which is not a project should have the setting for completing tasks in order un-checked. This makes it possible to use a task as a "folder" for categorizing projects. 6) sub-tasks within a project should always be able to see in their Task Notes window the notes of it's project. Therefore one would always have visible, when working on a sub-task, the project background information. 7) project Notes/Properties, or a new tab, should have fields for project Purpose, Mission, Outcome (as defined by GTD). Ofcourse these could be set in the Task Notes tab, but this would not be as well structured. 8) The use of a relational database back-end for MLO would enable large organizations to plan and organize large projects. 9) bug: when using input parsing on a task having a subject ending with a special character, such as , . ä ö å, it creates an unnecessary space character in the end. E.g. parsing the subject "this is a task-" results in "this is a task -". This goes for at least all of the special characteres mentioned above.
